Report a Counterfeit

There two important ways you can help in the fight against counterfeiters.

  1. If you have information about a counterfeit coin, bar, holder, round, U.S. Mint product or paper money, complete and submit the ACEF Counterfeit Report Form below. Any information you can provide to help identify suspicious activity on social media, online marketplaces, websites, or at coin shows and storefronts is valuable for crime analysis.
  2. If you are a victim of purchasing counterfeit coins/precious metals online, file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).

IC3 is a division of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) tasked with investigating and compiling reports on suspected Internet-facilitated criminal activity. The IC3 gives victims a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected criminal or civil violations on the Internet. The IC3 develops leads and alerts law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, local and international levels. Information sent to the IC3 is analyzed and disseminated for investigative and intelligence purposes to law enforcement and for public awareness.

File a Complaint with IC3

Click on Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and file your complaint under Other Cyber Crime. Since there is not a specific category for crimes involving the selling of counterfeit coins and other counterfeit precious metals products online, Other Cyber Crime is the appropriate category.
