Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force Update

ACEF Anti-Counterfeiting Director Beth Deisher will give an update on the progress the Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force has made since its founding at the FUN show in January 2017. The task for ce is leading the fight against the counterfeit coins and precious metals bars entering the United States coin market.

  1. Wish something could be done to clean up counterfeit commemoratives and Morgan dollars on ebay. I see occasionally sellers of Chinese fakes on ebay and sometimes reputable sellers who’ve bough fakes and resale them unknowing. Its hurt the price of online ungraded coins.

    1. Teams of numismatic specialists work with eBay on an ongoing basis, trying to remove counterfeit coins. However, don’t assume that it’s someone else’s responsibility. If you see counterfeits, report them to eBay. The biggest problem is after being removed, fakes simply reappear under a different name. Honest people have to step up and take action!

  2. I spend a good part of my free time reporting counterfeit coins on eBay. If we each put in this effort it will make a difference. I just keep trucking even though I see more and more everyday I’d like to think I make a bit of difference.
