These orders were placed online at what appeared to be a seller in the United States. However, when the orders arrived, they were in 4-by-5-inch envelope/packaging that qualify for special U.S. postage rates and they came from China!
The packaging and return address (located in China) are your first clue that the coin or bar in the package is counterfeit! Of course, check as to whether your coin or bar is attracted to a magnet. If so, no need to go further. If it passes the magnet test, weigh your item and measure the diameter of the coin. Sophistication of counterfeits has improved in recent years. If they pass these tests, go further for a metal analysis.
In the case of this coin and bar, neither were attracted to a magnet, but both failed weight tests.
